If you feel uncomfortable about your spoken English, remind yourself that it’s a second language and does not define you. You are more than just what you can say in English. You can discuss profound subjects in your native language. If you can’t do it in English, it does not mean you are less the person you know yourself to be in your native tongue. You may feel other people are looking at you in a peculiar way, but do not try to guess what they think. Focus on your message and ignore your feelings of inferiority. Ask yourself, if the other person was speaking in my native language, how would they feel? How would they sound?
